Brinda Karat condemns police firing on Dalit activists

 Bhongir: Communist Party of India-Marxist politburo member Brinda Karat has condemned the police firing on Dalit agitators in Uttar Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan States during the Bharath bandh. she demanded that the Central government t be held responsible for the death of Dalits.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Brinda Karat accused the Centre of discriminating against Dalits. The CPI-M national conference, to be held between April 18 and 22, would discuss the issue and chalk out a programme, she said.

She said the Centre’s anti people’s polices had widened the gap between the rich and poor. Taking the advantage of majority in Lok Sabha, the BJP government had adopted anti-people and pro-corporate policies. Its economic policies had been benefiting only the corporate sector, she said. 

She slammed the TRS for its failure to express its stand on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies. She also took exception of the TRS for not making its stand clear on no-confidence motion the Opposition was trying to move against the Centre. It represented betrayal of people by the TRS, she felt.
   
Stating, Bhaujana Left Front would play a key role in State politics in the next elections, she said the CPI-M was making efforts to bring together parties opposed to the Congress and the BJP.
