9 arrested, Gutka worth Rs 50 lakh seized in Hyderabad

19 persons have been arrested by the Special Operations Team (SOT) of Cyberabad for indulging in illegal sale of gutka on Wednesday.

11 four-wheelers and gutka worth Rs 50 lakh and other tobacco material were seized from their possession in RC Puram and Chandanagar.

Based on a tip-off, the SOT jointly with the police intercepted 11 four-wheelers on Wednesday morning.

The arrested persons were identified as T Ramesh, I Anil, Ch Rakesh, S Ramesh, M Ramesh, Md Shakeel Ahmed, Md Amjad Ali, Md Ghouse, Amjad, Abdul Sami, Sk Irfan Pasha, Md Jawed, Sk Sharukh, B Bharath, Syed Salman, Md Sameer, Md Faizuddin, Natshu Khan and Dinesh Kumar. 

The group confessed to smuggling gutka into Telangana by road from Bidar in Karnataka.

The culprits were produced before the court and sent to judicial remand.
