Telangana assembly elections: Massive voter turnout witnessed after 5 pm

The polling booths across the state have witnessed a huge number of voters queued up to vote after 5 pm. While the election commission said that around 67 per cent polling has been recorded and voter turnout after 5 pm is learned to have touched 73.2 per cent which left the people to return back to their homes without voting.

"When the presiding officers at the polling booths are gearing up to shut the polling booths at 5 pm. A massive public has been lined up at the booths to vote," said CEO Rajath Kumar. 

He also said that the police gave tokens to the people who turned up to the polling centre on time i.e, at 5 pm and they have been allowed inside to vote. The voter turnout beyond the poll timings has been recorded 73.2 per cent which is a huge figure when compared to the 2014 elections where it was 69.3 per cent.
