IAF Air strike : Airfares go up significantly in wake of India-Pakistan tensions

Highlight : After Indian Air Force airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan's Balakot, commercial flights were cancelled to J&K and five airports shut down. The civilian airfares have now escalated post the events.  

India and Pakistan and Pakistan have closed their airspace for all commercial operations for the second day today. Meanwhile, airfares for domestic travel in India, especially in the western region have escalated significantly. A one-way direct ticket between Delhi and Mumbai in most airlines is starting at a price point of Rs 20,000.

Several airports in North India are temporarily shut to avoid any emergency situations, and many airports across the country put on high alert. The Mumbai airport was also put on high alert and the government had asked schools to exercise caution.

Air service from Delhi to Srinagar has been impacted as only a couple of airlines are flying in this route.
