China retrieves 8.5 tonnes of waste from Mt.Everest

Enthusiasts from all over the world visit Mt.Everest every year, who deposit tonnes of trash.

China has retrieved 8.5 tonnes of waste, with a team of 30 people, from the Mt.everest of which 5.2 tonnes is household waste, 2.3 tonnes is human waste and one tonne is mountaineering waste.

Due to global warming, the frozen garbage has slowly been melting which has India, China and Nepal scrambling to clean up after decades of breakneck growth.

 Since 2015, Tibet has given every climber two trash bags to retrieve at least 8 kg of trash with a fine of $100 for each kilo less than 8 kg. They have pledged to complete 45 pollution cleanup tasks before 2020. Nepal has adopted similar rules since 2014.

China also plans to build environmentally friendly toilets and waste collection sites at Mount Everest.
