AGENTS OF SHIELD
The series set in the Marvel cinematic universe (MCU) is based of the popular Marvel comic organisation S.H.I.E.L.D (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division) a fictional peacekeeping agency in the world of superheroes. This ‘Avengers’ TV spin-off is must watch show for any Marvel fan. It is an interesting watch, since for once it is not centred around the superheroes but the underdogs of the Marvel universe. JESSICA JONES
A woman centric show is always a welcome change and when that show is as good as Jessica Jones it is sure to be a favourite. It traces the life of Jessica a former Superhero, who opens her own detective agency. What is immensely lovable about this series is that is steers clear from the ‘superhero sheen’ that most movies have but rather gives us the troubled hero with her own set of problems. The family adventure series is an invigorating experience as it dabbles with lesser known characters of the Marvel universe and weaves its way through family dynamics at the same time. Based on the X-men comics, we are constantly introduced to lesser known mutants like the Blink, Thunderbird and Polaris. The show known for its superb writing and astounding special effects breaks from usual the clutter of superhero shows to bring something truly worth a watch. Set in the past, this show is centred on the lead character Peggy Carter as she balances life as a secret agent in 1940’s America. The strong and edgy lead who constantly fights to be taken seriously in a man’s world is beautiful in its storytelling. DAREDEVIL
The shows follows the life of the masked vigilante who fights crime in the night and is a blind lawyer during the day. Sound familiar? It probably is. But don’t get fooled by the storyline, because Daredevil is easily one of the most layered characters is the Marvel Universe. The show is dark and gritty with the action being top notch.
