Update: 2018-01-17 15:49 IST

Telangana Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday visited Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti founder Manda Krishna Madiga in the Chanchalguda central prison in Hyderabad.

Addressing the media after meeting the MRPS leader in jail, he described the detention as illegal and an attempt by the TRS government to suppress the rights of Dalits.

Reacting strongly against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for suppressing the voice of Krishna Madiga who is agitating for categorization of Scheduled Castes (SCs), Uttam Kumar questioned whether people have any rights in Bangaru Telangana.

He mentioned Krishna Madiga’s attempts to organize a protest over the delayed categorization of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and was illegally arrested twice and sent to jail.

The TPCC further said that Dalits were brutally tortured and implicated in false cases in Nerella while the Girijans in Khammam were handcuffed and chained for demanding remunerative prices for chili crop.

Questioning whether the Dalits, tribals, BCs, and minorities have any human rights in Telangana, Uttam Kumar asserted that the Congress won’t remain silent on these human rights violations but make it a national issue.
