Online sales of drugs: Chemists to observe bandh tomorrow

Medchal: Thousands of chemists will observe bandh on September 28 in response to the call by the All-India organisation of Chemists and Druggists in coordination with the Telangana Chemists and Druggists’ Association opposing on-line sales of medicines, according Yaramada Harinarayana, president, local unit of the assocation. 

He said in a statement that many irregularities, like supply of spurious medicines,  were taking place in the on-line sale of medicines. Hence they should be stopped, he demanded the Central government. Harinarayana alleged that medicines inducing sedation, cough syrup, anti-pregnancy pills were being supplied online making youngsters addicts to bad habits. He said during the bandh period emergency shops would be kept open for supplying medicine to the needy people.
