Mahabubabad techie shot at by muggers in US

Mahabubabad: An engineering postgraduate, 27-year-old Poosa Sai Krishna of Mahabubabad, is battling for his life in US after he was shot at by muggers. The incident came to light on Sunday morning although it occurred on January 3.

Sai Krishna, who belongs to Bestawada in Mahabubabad town, had his schooling in Holy Angels High School in Mahabubabad. After completion of Intermediate in Narayana College, he did his BTech from KS Raju Institute of Technology and Sciences in Hyderabad. It’s learnt that he had also worked for Tech Mahindra in Hyderabad for about a year before he went to US in pursuit of MS (Electricals) in 2015. His father Poosa Yellaiah is a teacher and his mother Shailaja is a homemaker.

Sai Krishna, who completed post graduation in Electrical Engineering at Lawrence Tech University, Southfield Michigan, had started work with an automotive company in Detroit downtown recently.

The incident took place while he was returning from workplace. The muggers, who overpowered Sai Krishna at a food joint, took him to a secluded, place where they robbed his wallet and other belongings. They shot at him thrice before fleeing from the spot in the victim’s car. Some passerby, who identified Sai Krishna lying on roadside with bullet injuries in freezing conditions, alerted the authorities.

Sharing information with The Hans India from Mahabubabad, Sivanand Poosa, Sai Krishna’s cousin, said: “My brother is on ventilator support and doing well. Sai Krishna’s friends are looking after his well-being.”

So far, they raised $128,296 while the target is $250,000. This money was raised just in 20 hours with the help of 3,292 kindhearted people. It’s learnt that Sai Krishna doesn’t have health insurance.
