Moulali Model Market awaits inauguration since a year

Update: 2019-01-07 05:30 IST

Malkajgiri: Although the model market GHMC building in Moulali of Anandbagh division has been completed a year back, the shops have not been allotted till date, resulting in a loss of revenue to the government. The Marketing Department officials had got the complex ready for inauguration by Minister K Taraka Rama Rao after speeding up the work by GHMC. They directed that the shops should be allotted to traders. However, the inauguration by KTR is yet to take place and the shops are lying idle.

Speaking to The Hans India, petty traders and businessmen, who have been looking forward to the inauguration, expressed anguish over the delay. “We have been looking forward to the inauguration with hope. But out hopes have been dashed. They have remained just dreams”, the traders lamented. They recalled that the shops were to be allotted at a low cost with an intention to benefit them. The traders alleged that the delay of one year has been caused by negligence of officials concerned.

They want the department officials to react at least now and get the market inaugurated by a minister or an officer, so that shops can be made available to traders. This would result in the market getting a development boost. Traders like Asha Devi, Papamma, Thupakula Yadagiri have expressed the view that the market would thrive as it is located amid colonies. Recently the GHMC has allotted one shop in the complex to its anti-mosquito wing.
