Update: 2019-01-24 05:30 IST

Nacharam: Corporator Shanthi inaugurated new pipeline work that is estimated to be about Rs 11 lakh at VST Colony in the division on Wednesday. She said that it was started based on a complaint given by the local residents. Shanthi said that they had been suffering for years due to water stagnation on roads during rainy season.

It also led to mosquito menace and people were affected by water-borne diseases. Apart from this, residents, especially students and employees, have also been facing problems with the stagnation. The corporator appealed to the colony residents not to damage the pipelines for their personal purposes, such as marriages, by digging pot holes on top of the pipelines to erect tents in front of their houses. Shanthi advised the officials to expedite the work without compromising on quality.
