Raja Rithvik selected to represent India in World Youth Rapid Online Chess Championship

Hyderabad: Telangana State International Master R. Raja Rithvik, a class 11 student of Bhavan's Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya,Sainikpuri, Hyderabad, will represent India in the World Youth Rapid Online Chess Championship-2020 in Under-16 Category.

By virtue of being reigning National Sub-Junior Champion and in due recognition of his achievements at the international level he will be competing in the selection stage to be held from December 11 to 13, with the finals being played in December 19-23. This event comprises of five different age groups (U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18), competing in two sections: open and girls.

This year the World Chess Federation is organising FIDE World Youth Rapid Championship-2020 online due to the ongoing Corona pandemic, if not the championship was originally scheduled to be held at Romania, Europe.

Raja Rithvik, presently having FIDE Rating of 2,408, has been undergoing advanced training at RACE Chess Academy under the guidance of coach N.V.S. Rama Raju.

Coach Rama Raju congratulated Raja Rithvik for getting selected to represent India in the prestigious Online World Youth Rapid Championship-2020 and hoped that he brings many laurels to the country with his brilliancy and sharpness on the board.

Raja Rithvik will surely perform well in the upcoming world youth championship to be conducted through online platform. He would achieve his goal of becoming Grand Master at the earliest after the COVID restrictions are lifted and on-board games are commenced, the coach added.
