WhatsApp is working on its own 'Boomerang' feature

WhatsApp is working on its function capable of playing short videos to add to chats and status updates, similar to Instagram's Boomerang feature.

WABetaInfo reports suggest that WhatsApp has been working on the function for a few weeks now. Users will soon see a new option in the Video Type toggle tab along with the GIF option. Once you have converted a video to that "boomerang" clip, you can share it like any other media in your chats and also upload it to the status updates.

The function is still far from reaching our devices since it has not yet reached the WhatsApp beta applications. iOS does not have the function yet. However, WABetainfo suggests that the feature will be implemented first on iOS devices and then implemented in the Android ecosystem.
