Backyard Poultry Distributed to Boost Tribal Livelihoods

Nagarkurnool: Backyard poultry farming can be highly profitable for rural and tribal families, said Dr. Anil Pawan Kumar, Principal Scientist at PV Narasimha Rao Telangana Veterinary University. On Wednesday, with the support of ICAR, he distributed backyard poultry birds to beneficiaries at Bodabanda Tanda in Telkapalli mandal.

District Veterinary Officer Dr. Gnanasekhar attended the programme as the chief guest. Around 100 tribal families received 20 birds each under this initiative.

Later, the team visited a poultry farm located on the outskirts of Vattipally village. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Anil Pawan Kumar urged rural youth to take up allied agricultural activities like dairy and poultry farming to achieve sustainable income. He added that the livestock sector offers vast opportunities for self-employment and financial growth. Farm owner Neelam Venkatesh was felicitated with a shawl during the visit.

Veterinary officers Dr. Venkateshwarlu, Dr. Madhu, and staff members M.D. Aslam, M. Venkatesh, B. Venkatesh, Shyam, Shekhar, along with villagers, participated in the programme.
