The fall in the price began in February when the rumours about the virus spreading through chicken consumption started. According to the poultry association members, the price of the live bird ranged between Rs 12 and Rs 17 per kg on Saturday.

Worrying about the dip in the prices, the poultry association said that they were not sure when the business will be back on track. The efforts of minister KT Rama Rao who refuted the rumours by taking a bite of the chicken piece also went in vain, the association said.
