Mahbubnagar: The leaders of CPI have alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is showing stepmotherly treatment to the irrigation projects in the district and has been deliberately delaying the project works by not allocating adequate funds for Relief and Rehabilitation to the farmers and families who have been displaced by the project. While speaking at the CPI office in Mahbubnagar on Saturday, Balnarsihma, Telangana State executive member of CPI alleged the KCR had miserably failed in fulfilling the election promises to the people and had fooled the farmers, women folks, students and unemployed youth with his false promises. "KCR had launched various welfare schemes for the public, but these schemes have been left where they are due to lack of funds. And particularly for the Mahbubnagar district KCR is showing stepmotherly treatment. Take for instance the PRRLI project was laid foundation in the year 2015 and the Telangana CM had promised to complete it in 3 years period. But even after 5 years have gone past not even 10 per cent works are completed."

However, the Kaleshwaram project whose foundation was laid 2016, was completed within two years and water is given to the farmers. We are asking why KCR is not giving same priority to the PRRLI project and completed it in the stipulated time period. This clearly shows the CM has no interests for the welfare of Palamuru farmers," said Balnarsihma.

CPI district secretary Paramesh Goud also lamented against the TRS government attitude over the payment of compensation to the lands lost by farmers in the project. He said all the farmers must be provided equitable compensation of Rs. 11.50 to Rs. 12.50 lakhs per acre in addition to providing other livelihood resources to the displaced families.

"What we are demanding is that the government must provide justified compensation to all the farmers on same scale. Under Undadapur reservoir project the Polepally farmers are giving higher prices for their lands while those under Vollur and Udandapur where the project is actually coming are being paid just Rs. 4.5 to Rs. 5.5 per acre. This amount will not compensate the sacrifice the poor farmers are making. The government must realise and consider their request on humanitarian grounds and give them liberal compensation," said Paramesh Goud.
