Nagarkurnool: During a surprise visit to Zilla Parishad High School in Bijinepally mandal of Nagarkurnool district on Friday, District Collector E Sridhar warned the subject teachers of strict disciplinary action if the SSC students fail for three consecutive years in their subjects. He directed the District Education Officer Govindarajulu to immediately prepare a list of teachers in whose subjects the students have failed for over three years.

"We have given clear directions to schoolteachers that they should not neglect their duties and should focus on improving the SSC results in all the government schools. We have already directed the DEO to prepare a list of teachers in whose subjects the students have been failing for the last three years. Not just SSC exams, we are also analysing the performance of students even in weekly, monthly and quarterly exams. If there is no improvement in their respective subjects and continue to fail in the exams, the concerned subject teachers will have to forfeit their increments," said the Collector.

The Collector later interacted with the Class 10 girl students and tried to inquire if they were facing any problems. The Collector also tried to learn from the students about the grades they were getting in internal exams and weekly tests. He came to know that students were not given enough practice in Math because of which they were facing problems in understanding the subject, and were getting very low grades.

Later, the Collector conducted a meeting with the subject teachers in the school and verified the registers and checked the grades of the students of various subjects.

The Collector also verified the registers of four weekly tests and found that those students who failed in the first weekly tests had no improvement in the subsequent weekly tests. Over this, the Collector grew angry and asked the principal as to why there was no improvement in the grades of the students and why the teachers have failed to take any action to improve the results. "The teachers have the responsibility to teach all the basic principles and subjects to the students.

Apart from teaching regular lessons, it is also the responsibility of the teacher to identify slow learners, try to understand their problems and clear their doubts and help them improve their grades. However, we found no such action plan being implemented in this school," observed the Collector. The Collector also inspected the kitchen and the storeroom and expressed his displeasure over the shabby upkeep. He directed the staff to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and also on school premises.
