Contract municipal staff take out protest rally in Khammam

Contract workers of Khammam municipality taking part in a protest rally on Thursday

Khammam: As part of the State-wide call, the contract workers of Khammam municipality on Thursday took out a protest rally demanding resolution of their pending issues. After the rally, the workers staged a protest in front of the municipal office.

Addressing the agitators, the leaders of the contract staff alleged that the government has been neglecting the issues of workers for many years. They appealed to the government to give minimum salary of Rs 24,000 to workers. They threatened to intensify protests if the government fails to address their problems immediately. They appealed to all the workers to take part in the protest to be held on Friday.

The leaders of CPM, Congress and CPI extended their support to the agitators. Party leaders K Venkateswara Rao, T Vishnu Vardhan, Laxmi Narayana, Deepak Chowdary and a large number of contract workers took part in the protest rally.
