Kamareddy: CITU Jukkal constituency convener Suresh Gonda has demanded a remuneration of Rs 8,500 for panchayat raj employees and workers. The CITU leaders and gram panchayat workers staged a 'Challo Collectorate' protest here on Thursday.

Addressing the protestors, Suresh said GO No 51 was issued in October 2019 stating that the State government will pay a salary of Rs 8,500 for the employees and workers of gram panchayats. Stating that only a few village panchayats are paying Rs 8,500, he demanded implementation of the GO No 51 in all village panchayats in Kamareddy district and must pay Rs 8,500 to the employees.

Suresh appealed Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to amend the GO NO 51 and should directly credit the salary amount into the bank accounts of the workers. He said that they staged the protest to bring the issue to the notice of the government.

He also requested to apply Provident Fund (ESF) and ESI laws to all the panchayat raj workers and urged to solve the problems of panchayat raj workers immediately, who are vital in doing sanitation works in village panchayats. Considering the poor financial status of the panchayat workers, he requested the State government to allot houses to them.

Suresh Gonda urged the government for the implementation of GO No 51 and increase in wages. Later, he submitted a requisition letter to Joint Collector P Yadi Reddy seeking to solve their problems.

Suresh said the JC had assured them that he will look into the matter and take appropriate action. Telangana Gram Panchayat Workers Union president Veeraiah, secretary Gangaram, vice-president Ashu Khan and others participated in the protest.
