Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president K T Rama Rao stressed on the need for reforms in Election Commission. "Every citizen who is 18 years should have a vote and political parties should introspect why polling percentage was going down," Rama Rao said.

During an informal interaction with media on Sunday, K T Rama Rao said that there should be reforms in the Election Commission. Every citizen who turns 18 years of age should get voting right.

"I have an Aadhaar card and also a passport. It would not be proper if my name is missing from the voter's list. Link the voter ID with the Aadhaar card and ensure that individuals have only one vote at one place.

You cannot have two or four votes," Rao said. The voting percentage decreased in Hyderabad because natives of Andhra Pradesh decided to vote in their village, he added.

The TRS leader said that there was nothing wrong in poll percentage increasing on the next day of voting. "Check previous election trends during the voting day the EC gives tentative figures and actual poll percentage comes next day," said Rao.

He ruled out government's role in deletion of votes stating that the government has nothing to do with deletion of votes.

Rao wanted political parties to introspect why people were not interested to come and vote. He also took exception to the silence of Election Commission on the BJP withdrawing Rs 8 crore from Bank and IT Department giving clean chit within 24 hours of seizure of the cash.

When asked about suspension of election staff for missing name of Shobha Kamineni and not in the other case, Rao said the Election Commission has to answer this question. There should be a debate on the election process, he said.
