Lok Sabha Elections: Reinforced security for Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Security for Revanth Reddy the Telangana Congress working president, who is contesting from the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency, has been strengthened by the perception of a growing threat to him.

Saying this here on Monday, the additional director general of police (law and order) Jitender told that the leader of the Congress had also made a representation seeking police security.

Jitender told at a press conference, "Security has been strengthened for Revanth." Considering factors such as eligibility, threat perception and previous litigation cases, his security has been improved." In the coming days as the campaign is set to intensify, the police are preparing to provide greater security coverage for national leaders and VIPs.

On the issue of filing a case against Jana Sena's Chief, Pawan Kalyan, for his comments that insecurity is prevailing in Telangana among the people of the Seemandhra region, Jitender told they did not receive any specific complaints on the subject. He said that social networks are being continuously monitored by the police.

So far, Rs 7.22 crore has been seized throughout the state and up to now, there have been 195 cases of violation of the code of conduct model. Regarding the cases registered during the December assembly elections, he said that the accused were penalized in 123 cases, while 1,000 cases are still under investigation.

When asked about the threat of left-wing extremists in some districts bordering Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, he said there is very strict security.
