Update: 2019-11-25 21:10 IST

Mahbubnagar: The members of All-India Youth Federation (AIYF) in Mahbubnagar urged the State government to immediately consider the plight of kidney patients undergoing dialysis in various government hospitals, and demanded the government to extend Aasara pensions to the dialysis patients.

Visiting some of the patients undergoing dialysis at the Government General Hospital in Mahbubnagar on Monday, P Suresh, Federation's district secretary interacted with the patients and enquired about their health and the kind of treatment being provided to them. The patients though expressed satisfaction about the treatment, however, poured about their deteriorating financial conditions.

"The poor patients suffering from kidney dysfunction have to come all the way from small villages and have to shell out anywhere between Rs 3,000 and Rs 10,000 per month depending up on the kind of treatment they are taking. It is high time the State government consider the plight of these poor patients and extend Aasara pension benefit to them," observed P Suresh.

The AIFY secretary took a dig at the TRS government and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for not giving a heed to the request of his own party MLA Gongidi Sunitha, who had even raised the issues of dialysis patients in the Assembly session last time.

Later, the AIFY members staged a protest in front of the Mahbubnagar general hospital and demanded the government to immediately consider their demands and rescue the dialysis patients.
