Karimnagar: There is no shortage of drinking water in Karimnagar Municipal Corporation limits, but the people must utilise water judicially, urged MLA Gangula Kamalakar. He held a review meeting with the officials of municipal, public health, Mission Bhagiratha and rural water supply departments at Manair dam in Karimnagar on Friday.

Addressing the officials, MLA Kamalakar stated that some people intentionally spreading rumours that water in Manair dam has reached dead storage level and people are facing acute shortage of drinking water under the Corporation limits.

At present there is 3.4 TMCs of water in Manair dam and the dead storage level of the dam is 2 TMCs, that means still there is 1.4 TMCs of water available, which is sufficient for the next four months. There is no need to fear about drinking water supply, assured the MLA.

The pipeline laying works under Mission Bhagiratha are completed and by September, safe and pure drinking water will be supplied to every household under the project. Once the construction of reservoirs, which are going on at Markfed and in Satavahana University, are completed, the problem of water shortage for colonies present on the outskirts of the city will be solved, MLA Kamalakar added.

Municipal Commissioner Venugopal Reddy, municipal officials Bhadraiah, Masood Ali, Asif, officials of public health department Chinna Rao, Sampath Rao, Chalama Reddy, Balu, former corporators Sunil Rao, Hari Shankar, Koduri Ravinder Goud and Mallikarjun were present along with others.
