However, some of these news schools will go to other districts due to districts reorganisation.

For instance, the schools that are being opened in Kalwakurthy, Kodangal and Shandnagar regions will now come under the jurisdiction of Ranga Reddy district, which earlier were in Mahbubnagar district earlier.

Earlier, the entire erstwhile Mahbubnagar has only 15 residential schools and now with the addition of 11 more, this number has now increased to 26 schools.

In fact, before the formation of separate Telangana State, Mahbubnagar district had only three residential schools and there used to be very high competition from the students to get admission into these residential schools.

However, after separate Telangana State was formed, as many as 23 new residential schools come up giving respite to the parents and students.

"Unlike earlier, the admission into residential schools is now available quite easily. Particularly for the girls, the residential schools are a great boon," said Vijayalakshmi, Principal of a residential school.

With each residential school having a strength of 240 students, more than 2,400 students from poor and economically backward families can get a chance to avail admissions for their children into these schools.

It is expected that in the coming days, the government is also planning to set up more residential schools for both boys and girls. In some areas there are only boys residential schools and in some there is only girls.

However, to get equal opportunities for both boys and girls, the government is expected to open up girls residential schools where ever there is a boys school and similarly a boys residential school wherever there is only girls residential school.
