Secunderabad: Bid to set CM effigy afire foiled

Secunderabad: Two police personnel and four students were hurt during an altercation between the two groups on Tuesday. Students of ABVP, Secunderabad wing, tried to burn an effigy of CM KCR at Clock Tower. Police foiled the attempt. Arguments and scuffled ensued soon, which resulted in injuries to some protesters.

Speaking on the occasion, ABVP state secretary Ambala Kiran said the Chief Minister should mend his attitude keeping the future of students in mind. "Many students in the state are depending on scholarships. So, immediately release the dues of fee reimbursement immediately." If the dues are not cleared soon, many students may not be able to pursue their studies. He warned of massive protests if posts in universities were not filled. Police took ABVP Secunderabad wing convenor Jeevan, city secretaries Harsha, Mahender, leaders Sarapal Reddy and others into custody and shifted to Karkhana police station.
