Addressing the gathering, Federation's State deputy secretary D Srikanth Varma alleged that the State government has been giving step-motherly treatment to the education sector.

He expressed concern over the lack of facilities in government schools and hostels and demanded permanent buildings with all necessary facilities.

He demanded the government to fulfil the poll promise of providing midday meals in government junior colleges, enchancing cosmetic charges to Rs 500 to hostel students and fill all vacant teaching and non-teaching staff posts in government educational institutions.

Meanwhile, a scuffle took place between students and the police when the students tried to enter the Collectorate to meet the district officials to submit a memorandum of demands. Later, the students withdrew their attempt after getting assurance from the police.

Later, Joint Collector Sanjeeva Reddy came out and assured them to send their memorandum to government for necessary action.

Federation leaders S Upender, J Sai, M Vijay, Uttej, B Srikanth, Mahesh, Swathi, Bhavani, Manasa, Bhargavi and scores of students participated in the protest.
