Telangana MLAs, MLCs to get Rs 3 crore each for constituency development

The government is all set to provide Rs 3 crore each to MLAs and MLCs for the development of their constituency. The funds will be released to District Collector and kept with CPO of the district.

The legislators can suggest the works and with the approval of the district collector, the funds will be given to engineers to execute works.

The engineers estimate the project cost suggested by an MLA/MLC instead of calling of tenders. The work is then divided into bits of 4.99 lakhs (less than 5 lakhs) and alloted as suggested by the MLA/MLC.

Taking advantage of GO cited which states that "The execution of works with an upper limit of Rs 5 lakh may be entrusted to village works committees/ self help groups/ user groups consisting of stakeholders."
