Tight security for Friday prayers at Mecca Masjid

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police made foolproof security arrangements for Jumat-ul-vida, the last Friday for the month of Ramzan.

Since thousands of Muslims are expected to visit Mecca Masjid and offer prayers on the last Friday, police officials initiated precautionary measures and deployed additional forces to avoid any untoward incident.

Under the baton of an Additional CP, 200 Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel along with 200 local police, Quick Reaction Team (QRT) personnel, Task Force, Special Police and plainclothesmen will be deployed in and around the Mecca Masjid to ensure safety and security to the people who offer the prayers.

According to Amber Kishor Jha, DCP, South Zone, they have intensified the checkings and the patrolling in the half kilometer radius of Mecca Masjid and thorough surveillance of the area is going on. Police personnel will be posted on rooftops across the Mecca Masjid for maintaining tight vigilance.

On the other hand, Traffic police took measures for parking the vehicles at Charminar Bus Station, Unani Hospital premises, Khilwat playground and at Old Pension Payment office nearer to the Mecca Masjid.

To avoid any inconvenience they have also announced traffic diversions on certain routes in the Old city which lead to Mecca Masjid.
