Vikarabad: Farmer discovers pots filled with gold and silver ornaments while ploughing land

A farmer found five pots filled with gold and silver ornaments while tilling his agricultural land here at Sultanpur in Vikarabad district on Wednesday. Around 25 kg of gold and 1 kg of silver ornaments were inside the pots.

The farmer identified as Mohammed Siddiqui had bought a piece of land two years ago. As the monsoon is around the corner, Siddiqui wanted to level the front yard of his house so that water would not collect there. On Wednesday, he began digging his field when the two pots unearthed.

The news spread across the village and many turned up at the farmer's house to have a glimpse of the ornaments. Revenue officials who also arrived at the farmer's house on learning the news and said the village does not have any historical significance. However, the officials' of archaeology department are being informed, the officer said.

Around 25 ornaments, including chains, rings, anklets and other utensils were found. A goldsmith was called to verify the ornaments if they were made of gold and silver.
