Amaravati: Leading e-commerce giant Flipkart is ready to facilitate e-commerce marketing of handicrafts produced in the state, Dr Arja Srikanth, managing director and CEO of AP State of Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC).

Addressing the two-day workshop which concluded late on night Thursday on e-commerce marketing, onboarding process of products with 30 artisans from various parts of the state at the APSSDC office in Tadepalli, Dr Srikanth said, "We are taking necessary steps to popularise those products through Flipkart."

The Flipkart team led by Ratul Borar trained artisans on the marketing aspects, onboarding of the products in e-commerce, sales procedure and packaging and delivery process among others. The Flipkart team has catalogued more than 200 products for onboarding process.

"There is a good demand for handicrafts and handlooms products in the market like Kalankari, Kondapalli toys, bamboo dolls, jute bags, Mangalagiri saris, Pedana handlooms and lace products and more," Srikanth said adding that there were plans to provide training to more artisans on e-commerce marketing through Flipkart at the district-level.

Flipkart management trainer Ratul Borar said, "Soon, the Flipkart team will visit the artisans' villages to teach them more about packaging, shipping, banking and marketing," and added that they will continue to support them for six months.

The meeting was also attended by APSSDC executive director Hanuma Naik, general manager Sandeep and manager Mahender and artisans from various districts.
