Amaravati: To enquire and investigate into the alleged irregularities that happened during the TDP regime, the State government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday. Government delegated the highest powers to investigate the irregularities highlighted by the Cabinet Sub-Committee formed vide G.O. Rt. No. 1411, in the month of June, 2019.

Praveen Prakash, Principal Secretary (General Administration Department) issued the orders constituting the SIT through G.O. RT. No: 344.

Dr. Kolli Raghuram Reddy, DIG, Intelligence is appointed as Head of the SIT. Babujee Attada, SP, Visakhapatnam, Ch. Venkata Appala Naidu, SP, Intelligence, Srinivas Reddy, Addl SP, Kadapa, Jayarama Raju, DSP, Intelligence, Vijaya Bhaskar, DSP, Vigilance & Enforcement, M. Giridhar, DSP, Intelligence, Kennedy, Inspector, Eluru Range, I. Srinivasan, Inspector, Nellore District, S.V. Rajashekar Reddy, Inspector, Guntur Dt. are appointed as members.

Framing the terms and references to the SIT, the government asked to enquire, register, investigate and conclude the investigation according to the provisions of CrPC. The SIT will function as a nodal single point contact, including for sharing of information and coordinating if necessary, with the State and Central Investigating Agencies.

The SIT would have powers to call for any person/officer in connection with the enquiry and investigation, to record his/her statement as per the provisions of CrPC.

The SIT has the powers to call for and examine any record pertaining to the issues and land transactions in various aspects.

All Departments and officers were directed to provide necessary assistance to the SIT for proper discharge of its functions.

The government stated that all the consequential notifications under CrPC to enable the functioning of SIT as Police Station shall be issued by the concerned departments.

Before that, the Cabinet Sub-Committee was constituted to review major policies, projects, programmes, institutions established (Corporations, Societies, Companies, etc), and key administrative actions since bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh State on June 02, 2014 impacting State's development. The Sub-Committee presented first part of the report to the Government, which highlighted the various procedural, legal and financial irregularities and fraudulent transactions concerned with various projects, including the issues related to land in the CRDA region.

After thorough discussion and subsequent acceptance, the Government decided to get the issue enquired by a specialized agency. During the discussion held in the last session in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, on the above stated report, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly directed the Government to initiate a systematic and comprehensive investigation into the subject matter.
