Nelapadu (Amaravati): The Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court comprising Chief Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheswari and Justice Ninala Jayasurya on Wednesday reserved its judgment on the writ petition which challenged applying party colours to the official buildings throughout the State by the State government.

The Division Bench heard the arguments of the both the petitioner's counsel and the Additional Advocate General P Suidhakar Reddy.

It may be recalled that Muppa Venkateswara Rao of Pallapadu village in Guntur district filed the petition challenging the government's decision to colour the government buildings with party colours which may influence the voters in the forthcoming elections to the local bodies.

The Assistant Solicitor General representing the Union government stated that the government buildings cannot be used for political advertisement by the ruling party.
