In a shocking incident took place in Guntur district, a tenant farmer named Salim committed suicide by stabbing himself in the field. Salim, a tenant farmer from Pothumarru village in Vemuru mandal leased 7.4 acres of land belonging to a woman named Padmavati from the same village. Meanwhile, there is a dispute between Padmavati and Shiva Reddy over the ownership of the farm. Shiva Reddy claims Padmavati's husband sold the farm to him in 2012.

A case has been pending in the court in this regard. Revenue and police officials were ready to harvest the crop grown on the farm as per court orders. On Monday night, tenant farmer Salim released a selfie video saying that he would commit suicide on the farm if the authorities cut the crop. Salim tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself when Revenue and police officers arrived at the farm this morning. With this, the locals thwarted Salim's attempt.

Already he was stabbed himself in protest while the police tried to rush Salim to the hospital. He confessed that the authorities ignored his request no matter how many times he told. The victim was later shifted to a hospital in Tenali for treatment.
