The high court has given the green signal for the elections of the local bodies of Andhra Pradesh. The new government headed by chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has decided to hold elections for local bodies. It has also prepared rules on this. However, challenging the government's decision, many approached the High Court to stay the election.

A hearing on Friday rejected the appeal. The government has already decided to provide 60 per cent reservation for local bodies elections to BC, SC and ST. Several lawsuits have been filed in the High Court.

The High Court adjourned the hearing for four weeks and gave the green signal to the government to hold elections. This has paved the way for Sarpanch, MPTC, ZPTC and Municipal Elections which have already been completed its term in August 2018.
