Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha said officials are fully prepared to conduct local body elections, pending the Supreme Court’s verdict.
Punetha said he had reviewed arrangements through video conferences with district collectors, superintendents of police, other district officials and representatives from the Panchayat Raj and Municipal departments. Preparations have been under way for the past two months, he said.
The elections will be held in phases, with photo electoral rolls valid as of 5 February 2026 serving as the basis for the process. Ballot boxes and ballot papers are ready, and a printing press for producing the papers will be finalised shortly.
Punetha said all necessary arrangements had been completed to move the election process forward quickly once the Supreme Court delivers its verdict.
