The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority predicted that there could be rains in Andhra Pradesh due to the low-pressure area currently centered over the Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh areas and is expected to move in a west-northwest direction in the next 24 hours.
The authority warned of gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-60 kmph along the North Andhra coast and predicted rains accompanied by lightning in parts of Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, NTR, Eluru, Nandyal, Krishna, and Kurnool districts over the next three hours. They also issued advisories to people not to stand under trees or hoardings during lightning and gusty winds and to avoid trying to cross overflowing streams or canals.
People were advised to be wary of the likelihood of heavy rainfall. With rains occurring across the Telugu states, the authority said the wet spell is likely to continue for the next few days and urged the public to take necessary precautions.
