Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association (APOA) has demanded a comprehensive and independent inquiry into alleged irregularities in Sports Quota recruitment, particularly the recently conducted Mega DSC-2025, alleging that questionable sports certificates and lapses in verification may have enabled ineligible candidates to secure government jobs.
Speaking to media here on Sunday, APOA president RK Purushotham said the Association had been raising concerns over the alleged misuse of sports certificates for nearly a decade and demanded transparent re-verification of Sports Quota appointments.
Purushotham alleged that lapses in the verification of sports certificates and Form-2 documents issued or cleared by the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) had raised doubts over the eligibility of some candidates. He questioned whether participation, event recognition, dates and venues, official results, medal claims and federation records had been independently verified.
According to him, preliminary information indicated concerns involving 12 candidates in the Animal Husbandry Department, 30 in DSC recruitment and 15 in Village/Ward Secretariats. He stressed that these figures were preliminary and that only an independent inquiry could establish the actual number of eligible or ineligible candidates.
Purushotham demanded that disputed certificates be cross-checked with the concerned national federations and sought a complete audit of Form-2 certificates issued or verified by SAAP. He also suggested sport-specific proficiency tests and re-verification of Sports Quota appointments made since 2018, along with candidates’ educational qualifications and other eligibility criteria.
