Bangarupalyam police arrest three in two-wheeler theft cases

Chittoor: Three members of an inter-state gang allegedly involved in stealing two-wheelers in Bangarupalyam police station limits and surrounding areas of Chittoor district were arrested by Bangarupalyam police on Monday.

Four stolen motorcycles and scooters, worth about Rs.3.5 lakh, were recovered from them.

The case was registered as Cr No 160/2026 under Section 303(2) of the BNS after a Suzuki Access bearing registration number AP-03-CX-0050 was reported stolen from near Sri Vari Hotel at Katappagaripalli in Bangarupalyam mandal. As part of the investigation, police conducted vehicle checks on the Chittoor-Palamaner NH-69 highway on September 28.

Bangarupalyam Inspector Kathi Srinivasulu, SI T Prasad and their staff noticed three persons attempting to turn back and flee after seeing the police. They were detained and questioned.

The accused were identified as Vignesh Kumar Selvam alias Vignesh (20), B Chandru Bhiman (24), and G Vijay (26), all from Vellore district in Tamil Nadu.

Police said the accused admitted to stealing two-wheelers in border areas of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh due to financial needs and bad habits. Based on their statements, police recovered four stolen vehicles hidden in a shed at a closed Maha Juice Factory premises near Katappagaripalli Cross.

The vehicles include two Suzuki Access scooters and a TVS Jupiter linked to cases registered at Bangarupalyam, Chittoor Taluk and Chittoor II Town police stations.

Police also seized a Bajaj Pulsar NS200, bearing registration number TN-18-BA-8212, allegedly used in the offences. The accused were produced before a court and remanded. Police are continuing the investigation to determine whether the gang was involved in other vehicle thefts, Inspector Srinivasulu said.
