Vizianagaram: National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) member Dr R G Anand, Andhra Pradesh SCPCR Hymavathi and Collector Dr Hari Jawaharlal participated in a camp organised at Collectorate on Thursday to redress the grievances of children.

In total, 326 representations were received by the commission and suggestions made by individual persons and NGOs. Several children had come with their issues in front of the NCPCR camp for redressal. In the camp, directions were passed in 157 cases.

Issues related to education, infrastructure, ICDS related issues such as function of toilets, RO purifiers and water problem in anganwadi centers were taken up. In the camp, stalls from different concerned departments and NGOs working for children and their rights were put up.

Later RG Anand said, "We are planning to conduct such camps in 727 districts in the nation and in first phase, the camps will be conducted in 115 districts to hear the grievances of children. The first camp in Andhra Pradesh was held at Visakhapatnam on August 1 and the second on is in Vizianagaram.

We have received around 3,000 complaints from 10 states and most complaints are regarding the violation of right to education and we have intervened in those cases and made the justice. The accused are jailed too. The commission would consider the violation of child rights seriously and the offenders would be punished severely."
