Civic body polls in AP soon: Botcha
Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Botcha Satyanarayana stated the state government will conduct elections to the municipal corporations and municipalities soon.
Vijayawada: Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Botcha Satyanarayana stated the state government will conduct elections to the municipal corporations and municipalities soon.
He said rationalisation will be conducted to maintain uniformity of voters in the municipal wards and municipal divisions. Botcha replied to the questions asked by the members in the Legislative Council on Monday.
TDP member Dokka Manikya Varaprasad has asked the Minister whether there is any proposal with the government to merge all the villages of Guntur rural mandal into Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) , if so, he wanted the details.
Replying to it, the Minister said there was no such proposal. He said only Lalpuram village is under consideration to merge with the (GMC).
Another member K S Lakshmana Rao stated that 14 years had passed since elections conducted to the GMC and asked the government to conduct elections to the civic body at the earliest.
People have been facing many hardships as elections were not conducted to the Guntur Municipal Corporation, he said. Varaprasad also underlined the need to conduct elections to the Guntur Municipal Corporation as early as possible.
