Incessant rains are lashing several districts of Andhra Pradesh due to the impact of a severe depression. The government has gone on high alert in the wake of these heavy rains. Chief Minister Chandrababu and ministers are issuing directives to officials to conduct regular reviews and ensure the public faces no inconvenience. Most recently, the Chief Minister held another teleconference with the collectors of the rain-affected districts. Noting forecasts of continued rainfall today and tomorrow, he ordered the district administrations to remain fully vigilant. He told the authorities to tour the area and solve all problems created by the rain.
The Chief Minister ordered to repair the damaged roads as well as the disrupted traffic because of the force of the water. He said that there should be warnings to people living in areas prone to landslides and their evacuation if necessary. He said that there must be no disruptions in the power supply, and he ordered the authorities to establish control rooms to collect information on the spot. He also asked for efforts to fill up the irrigation tanks in advance and prevent the breach of embankments.
The Chief Minister made it clear that there must be an immediate response to any request for assistance from the field level. He also directed that public feedback be gathered via IVRS. He directed the officials to promptly clear trees uprooted by strong winds in various areas to ensure smooth transportation. CM Chandrababu ordered collectors to continuously assess the flood situation and take appropriate precautionary measures.
