Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has said the state police had effectively foiled activities that could threaten national security. He said investors would be willing to invest in the state only if they had confidence in its security.
Naidu was speaking at Police Commemoration Day at the 6th Battalion Parade Grounds in Mangalagiri, where he paid floral tributes at the martyrs’ memorial.
He said law and order depended on the police and was always a priority when he was in power. Political connections, he added, should not shield criminals. He urged officers to act firmly against those who harassed the public and against what he described as “psychos” on social media.
Naidu also said the Andhra Pradesh Police should be recognised nationally for their use of technology.
State Home Minister Anita, Chief Secretary Sai Prasad and Director-General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta were among those attending the event.
