Visakhapatnam: Eight-ft long Siva Lingam made of terracotta was set up on the Beach Road, opposite Kalimata temple for 'Maharudrabhishekam' performed by Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao here on Sunday.

'Jala abhishekam' collected from sacred rivers, 'Maha Bheeshmabhishekam', 'ashtotaram namam', 'doopam' and 'arti' formed a part of the elaborate ritual carried out by a team of 'vibhuti'-smeared priests.

They followed a pattern to pour the aromatic liquids over Siva Lingam that formed the shades of tri-colour, among others. It took a couple of hours to complete the devotional programme as pots of aromatic liquids were used for the celestial bath given to Lord Siva.

Led by the Srinivasa Rao and his wife, an impressive Maharudrabhishekam was attended by YSRCP leaders, officials, MLAs, MP M V V Satyanarayana, VMRDA Chairman Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, City Police Commissioner R K Meena and a large of number of devotees.
