Government teachers to get special training in English: Audimulapu Suresh
The state government is contemplating to impart special training to improve the proficiency of English language teachers, who are working in the English medium government schools in the state.
Vijayawada: The state government is contemplating to impart special training to improve the proficiency of English language teachers, who are working in the English medium government schools in the state.
Keeping in view the demand for the English medium schools in the state, the previous TDP government introduced English medium in several hundred of schools. Now, the present government continued the same policy and is planning to increase the standards of both teachers and students. Now, the changing of Telugu medium schools into English medium schools is underway in the ZP schools.
In this backdrop, the State government has decided to impart special training in English to 40-50 teachers from each district, said Education Minister Audimulapu Suresh. He said to The Hans India, that the selected teachers will be given special training in English by the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU, Hyderabad) and another institute in Bengaluru. He said there is a plan to appoint the trained teachers as resource persons, but a decision has not taken yet on it.
The Minister said it will take some more years for the transformation of Telugu medium schools into English medium schools in the State and the government will continue both Telugu medium and English medium schools in parallel for the convenience of students.
He said the Government will take the suggestion of the peoples' representatives, parents and academicians and would frame the policies on education. He said 15,534 English medium schools are functioning in the state with enrolment of 11.37 lakh students and hoped the figure will be increased further in the coming years.
Suresh felt teachers, who teach subjects in English medium government schools need more skills. He said children studying in the government schools have excellent IQ but they need English lanto face competition in future.
