Guntur: Special pujas were performed to Sri Veera Anjaneya Swamy at Anjaneya Swamy temple (Sahasralingeswara Swamy temple) in Ponnur on Sunday on the occasion of auspicious Hanuman Jayanti.
The devastanam authorities performed abhishekams and special pujas with betel leaves and flowers to 24-feet high Lord Veera Anajaneya Swamy. The Vedic pandits wore masks and maintained social distance and performed pujas. After performing pujas, they gave teerdham and prasadam.
Ponnur MLA Kilari Rosaiah and temple executive officer T Srinivas participated in the Hanuma Janyanti special pujas. Every year, devotees from Telangana and Tamil Nadu with Irumudulu visit the temple and perform special pujas. Due to lockdown caused by outbreak of Covid-19, they did not come this year. The temple priests and officials participated in the pujas. Similarly, special pujas were performed to Sri Anjaneya Swamy at Anjaneya Swamy temples in the district.
