Tirupati: Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy has reiterated the government's commitment towards the welfare of all sections irrespective of caste, creed and religion in the state. Fulfilling the promise made to Kapus, the government has been providing a financial assistance of Rs15,000 each to 2.36 lakh people in the community under Kapu Nestham programme.

He released a mega cheque of Rs.12.32 crores for 8,218 beneficiaries in Chittoor district on Wednesday after the CM's video conference in which he participated at RDO office in Tirupati. Tirupati and Chittoor MPs B Durgaprasada Rao and N Reddeppa, Chittoor and Thamballapalli MLAs A Sreenivasulu and P Dwarakanath Reddy, District Collector Dr N Bharat Gupta and AJC V R Chandramouli also took part in the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the Dy CM has asked those who did not register their names in Kapu Nestham scheme to get enrolled immediately to get the benefit. He asked the officials to identify the eligible beneficiaries through a special drive. Starting from Amma Vodi, through various welfare schemes each family has been getting the benefit of Rs.1 lakh in the state, he said. He added the farming community is all happy with the good rainfall this time.

Earlier, expressing her happiness with the Chief Minister during the video conference one of the beneficiaries, Muni Lakshmi has said that she has been running a small grocery shop at Durga Samudram village in Tirupati Rural mandal. When they face financial difficulties during lockdown, they got Rs.15,000 benefit under Kapu Nestham. In addition to that she got free ration twice in a month. She said that her family got benefitted with four schemes under Nava Rathnalu.

Under Kapu Nestham, Punganur will get maximum benefit of Rs.1.54 crore for 1,027 beneficiaries followed by Chandragiri with Rs.1.29 crore for 861 beneficiaries. There are only 147 beneficiaries in Kuppam constituency who will get Rs.22 lakh.
