Kurnool: National General Secretary of Social Justice for World Human Rights Council (SJWHRC) Neeraja Damarakula has said that several lives could be saved with a pint of blood donation.

Participating as a chief guest in a mega blood donation camp organised at KS Care Hospital uunder the auspices of SJWHRC in the town on Wednesday, Neeraja said several road accident victims were losing lives due to shortage of blood components.

In addition to road accident victims, several patients were in critical care units at the hospitals due to non-availability of blood. She also removed misconceptions on donating blood. She appealed to people to come out of myths and donate blood. A pint of donated blood would save many lives that are in dire need. She said around 45 persons have come forward voluntarily to donate blood on the call given by the SJWH/RC. They have even assured to educate people about the advantages of donating blood.

Managing Director of KS Care Hospital, Lal Bahadur Sasthry said the secured blood would be preserved safely and would be used to save the lives of patients in dire need. There was huge scarcity of blood due to lockdown imposed in the nation, he said and expressed happiness over several youths coming forward to donate blood liberally.

Several others need to take inspiration from them and come out to donate blood, he added. SJWHRC district working committee vice-chairman C Subbaiah, state joint secretary Anand, Sub Inspector Rayudu, Dr Kusuma, Dr Sampath Kumar and others participated and presented commendation certificates to the donors.
