Former minister and TDP secretary general Nara Lokesh has fumed at YSRCP government headed by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for increasing the VAT on the petrol and diesel. He took to Twitter and made satirical comments. He asserted that the YSRCP which was promised to hike the pensions in its electoral manifesto is now laying the burden on the people by raising the taxes.

"Earlier, the government has increased RTC bus fares then VAT on fuel prices and tomorrow we would see the hike in electricity charges, " Lokesh wrote on Twitter.

On Wednesday, the government issued orders stating the increase in VAT on petrol and diesel. The present VAT on the petrol, which remained at 31 per cent, is now enhanced to 32.20 per cent while the diesel, which is at 22.25 per cent is now rose to 27 per cent.

With the latest hike on VAT, the fuel prices will increase by Rs 2. The price of petrol will now be tagged at Rs.78 per liter while the Diesel at Rs 71.89 respectively.
