Machilipatnam: For the first time in Andhra Pradesh, 'Children Friendly Police Centre' was inaugurated at the Machilipatnam police station on Thursday. Krishna district superintendent of police M Ravindranath Babu along with the officials of the women and child welfare department, children and trainee IPS officer Preran Kumar inaugurated the police station.

Speaking on the occasion, the SP said the objective of inaugurating the Children Friendly Police Centre is to make children bold to face the problems and lodge complaints to the police against injustice. He interacted with the children and explained the duties of the police. He said that separate rooms will be arranged for the convenience of children in all police stations in the district as some women come to the police stations with their children. On the other hand, a Children Friendly Police Centre arranged in Machilipatnam on Thursday was decorated with toys, cartoons, paintings to attract the children. Children overjoyed seeing the paintings and toys in the police station.

Later, interacting with media, SP said Children Friendly Police Centres will be useful to create awareness among the children on the duties of the police and the rights of the children.
