Bapatla SP B Umamaheswar performing puja to Mobile Forensic Unit in Bapatla on Tuesday
Bapatla: District Superintendent of Police B Umamaheswar flagged off the Mobile Forensic Unit after performing a special puja at the district police headquarters in Bapatla on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, the SP told the media that scientific evidence is crucial in crime investigations. He informed that the vehicle has over 250 modern instruments. These include kits for DNA collection, gunshot residue, trace evidence, fingerprint development, drug detection, and fire accident analysis.
The vehicle also carries cyber forensic equipment for digital evidence collection and imaging.
The SP said state DGP Harish Kumar Gupta has set up a three-level forensic evidence collection system that works 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Crime spot vehicles at each sub-division form the first level, the new mobile forensic units form the second level, and expert teams from the AP Forensic Science Laboratory and Regional Forensic Science Laboratory form the third level. The SP assured that this unit will improve conviction rates in courts.
